High School Journalism Workshop

Weston, Ma.
The safe and secure environment of the college's 168-acre suburban campus only 12 miles from downtown Boston, offers the ideal setting for summer study. The college's facilities, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, and fitness center, will be open to students enrolled in the workshop.
Schedule
Writing in the morning; photojournalism and layout/design in the afternoon.Morning
Monday: Overview - Elements of a good story.
Tuesday: Interviewing techniques - Developing the story; Writing for the Internet
Wednesday: Sports as news; Sports as feature; Copyediting; Writing captions and headlines
Thursday: Writing editorials and reviews
Friday: Surveys; Proofreading; Story ideasAfternoon
Photojournalism: Students wishing to learn photo techniques may choose this course. They must come with their own cameras and film.Layout/Design: Instruction in how to use PageMaker.
Evenings
Lecturers from various Boston area newspapers will speak.
